Lydia Sumbel, MD, MPH, CHW is a public health professional with a background in medicine, epidemiology, and community-based program evaluation. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and brings focused experience in epidemiologic research, program assessment, data analysis, stakeholder-driven public health initiatives, global health and health policy. Her work spans across academic research centers, clinical settings, state and community public health systems, where she translates complex data into actionable insights to inform policy and practice.  She has coordinated multi-stakeholder efforts across Texas to strengthen public health systems for vulnerable and underserved populations and has co-authored peer-reviewed publications and policy-focused reports on pandemic preparedness, vaccination access, and healthcare accessibility for people with disabilities. Lydia is deeply passionate about advancing health equity, strengthening epidemic preparedness, and building resilient, inclusive public health systems that improve outcomes for vulnerable and underserved populations.
