Research Area:

Substance misuse across the lifespan, prescription drug misuse, prescription misuse and psychopathology.

Faculty Fellows Project:

Dr. Ty Schepis aims to foster health and resilience by understanding the development of substance use, psychopathology, and the interaction between these conditions in adolescents. His main goal is to determine the relationship between children who already experience anxiety and depression and their initiation into substance use in order to figure out how it affects their symptoms. Findings from this project will help identify points of intervention for at-risk adolescents as well as evidence to support universal screening in healthcare settings for adolescent substance use.

Background:

Dr. Schepis' research primarily focuses on psychopathology and prescription drug misuse across a person's lifespan and among different identities. He has received numerous amounts of recognition for his work with awards and grants.

Dr. Schepis is a professor at the Department of Psychology at Texas State, where he teaches Clinical Psychology.
