Resilient agricultural systems, soil health, soil ecology, and economic development through regenerative processes.
Research Fellows Project:
Cassaundra Melgar-C’De Baca aims to help build a bridge between academia and the community regarding regenerative practices. The project will develop and execute a virtual ECHO series focused on the education and adoption of the biochar ecosystem. This series will range from the latest soil research to carbon credits.
Background:
Cassaundra has over 30 years of business development, branding, and research experience, including extensive nonprofit leadership. As the first woman to be named a White House “Champion of Change” for her work with Veterans in Entrepreneurship, she brings a plethora of innovative solutions to the team. In 2022, she joined Texas State University with a dedication and burning desire to discover how she could translate her experience in building enterprises toward building sustainable practices that will engage the local community.
