Research Areas:

Animal science, novel feeds to enhance cattle production, and sustainable agriculture systems

Background:

Dr. Merritt Drewery focuses on the sustainability of food production through identifying novel feeds and feeding strategies for beef cattle. She is also interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning, especially for underrepresented students pursuing STEM degrees.

Dr. Drewery spent two years in the dairy industry in upstate New York before returning to Texas in 2019 as an Assistant Professor in Animal Science in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at Texas State University. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Animal Science from Texas A&M University, and her Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from Louisiana State University.
