ABOUT BRAVE

Building Resilience and Advancing Veterans Engagement Across Texas.
This project will empower veterans and their support networks to help shape solutions that strengthen community connections, improve access to resources, and address the lasting impacts of moral injury.

THE CHALLENGE
Veterans experience moral injury, which causes feelings like guilt, shame, betrayal, and loss of trust, making it difficult for them to reconnect with their families, communities, and sense of purpose.

THE SOLUTION
This project partners directly with veterans and their support networks to better understand the impacts of moral injury. By working alongside researchers as collaborators, veterans will help identify community needs, shape research priorities, and co-develop future patient-centered comparative effectiveness research (CER) that reflects those priorities. This engagement lays the groundwork for research that is more responsive to the lived experience of veterans, with the long-term goal of contributing to improved well-being and community health.
